NeDA is a nonprofit community development corporation that builds affordable housing and empowers communities to achieve sustainability through financial education, lending, and personalized guidance. NeDA’s housing and financial counseling programs are offered metro-wide in both Spanish and English. NeDA Centro de Finanzas, an affiliate of NeDA, is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). NeDA’s housing and commercial development efforts are based on Saint Paul’s West Side.

NeDA’s mission extends beyond building and renovating homes. NeDA works with people to create choices in housing and community participation. By working in partnership with individuals and organizations, NeDA creates a strong neighborhood and makes the West Side a financially viable community.

OUR HOUSING SERVICES

Homeownership advising services:
+ Offers bilingual pre-purchase and post-purchase advising
+ Offers bilingual foreclosure prevention

Pathways for homebuyers:

  • One-on-one financial coaching to help you build credit, manage debt, grow your savings, and create a clear path to homeownership.

  • Homebuyer education workshops—required by many first-time homebuyer programs and designed to prepare families for successful homeownership.

  • Guidance on applying for down payment assistance programs, including those available through Minnesota Housing and Habitat for Humanity

  • Ongoing support throughout the entire application, loan, and homebuying process

  • Credit improvement assistance, including strategies to build credit with a small loan that we offer or repair credit as part of the homebuyer preparation journey

Stewardship:
+ Provides and supports community organizing activities, such as redevelopment planning.

Real Estate Development:
+ Housing development - new construction and rehabilitation of multi-family housing and houses for sale to owner occupants.
+ Homeownership forgivable and deferred loans for energy-efficient upgrades and code-compliance rehabilitation projects for homeowners in targeted neighborhoods.
+ Originate Minnesota Housing Finance Agency home equity loans
+ Interest-bearing rehab loans (NeDA Centro de Finanzas)
Economic Development:
+ Offers bilingual financial literacy workshops
+ Financial coaching
+ Credit builder loans (NeDA Centro de Finanzas)

Our real estate operations represent the activities of:
+ Wabasha Center: Wabasha Center houses NeDA’s offices and childcare center.
+ The Terraces, LLC: The Terraces owns McLean (24 units) and Wabasha (11 units) apartments located in Saint Paul.
+ 72 Cesar Chavez LLLP: 72 Cesar Chavez LLLP owns Villa del Sol (40 units) apartments located in Saint Paul.
+ Stryker Senior Housing LLC: Stryker Senior Housing is a three-story building with 57 units of senior housing.

INVESTMENT IN PARTNERSHIP
Bluff Homes Limited Partnership is the owner of Bluff Park Homes, a 73-unit apartment complex in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

$1,000,000 in deferred, home rehabilitation loans to 175 West Side homeowners

 $40,000,000 of real estate development in the East Metro area, predominantly on the West Side, including 84 single-family homes and 159 affordable rental apartments

6,500 individuals counseled on how to successfully buy a home

5,500 families advised on how to avoid foreclosure of their homes

Over 1,500 youth and adults educated with personal finance workshops

Over $1,000,000 of debt repaid through our financial tools
